Hi there I was wondering what hosting everyone is using for their sites? Do you use dedicated servers or just good VPS?

Depends on the website's importance. Dedicated hosting is expensive than VPS or shared hosting. Business websites are using mostly dedicated hosting.

IMO a dedicated server is like maintaining an elephant. It's costly no matter whether you get traffic or not.

A scalable server is much better, especially if you could auto scale it according to your need.

AWS allows this. Probably GCP too.

Namecheap shared hosting is fine until your site hits 1K sessions/day
Support is highly responsive.

for a single website with average visitors a 1 GB RAM 1 Core Ubuntu VPS will do the job. Pick it up from DigitalOcean followed by the TOS and spin a LAMP Stack. You will not regret it.

WPX, not the cheapest but it's damn fast.

I'm at a few thousand sessions/day right now having a little bit of issues on my shared host right now so I'm thinking about making the switch which is why I'm asking what people have used. I'm considering buying an OVH or digitalocean VPS since I use those for my gaming servers but not sure how they would run on the website side of things.

if you r just starting go with Namecheap shared hosting

Go with a VPS, Vultr, DigitalOcean, Contabo are decent for this,
which one to go with depending on the website needed specs which you can check on your current hosting panel, make sure to put an extra on this to handle any growth/cases later,
Along with this, you can easily install Apache + Nginx or OpenLiteSpeed using any of the well known free panels (i do recommend aapanel)
Make sure to select the right location to get the best out of speed

Namecheap shared hosting is the best one. It's working Really Good.

Shared hosting for new and small websites.
Dedicated hosting for high-traffic professional sites.
VPS hosting for websites that are growing.
Managed WordPress hosting for simplified maintenance.
Other hosting options for specific purposes (such as cloud or e-commerce hosting).
See : https://www.dreamhost.com/blog/types-of-web-hosting/
It shows you more details about web hosting and above types listings .

Hope this Helps !
