at the moment I use JustHost but I plan on switching because of their "10% cpu limit rule". recently they suspended my account because i had a spike in traffic(only a couple hundred visitors). i need a new web host that doesnt ban you just cause you get traffic spikes. anyone have any recommendations?

For vps i think its knownhost, I also have webair which is ok but not great. I need a managed vps so I guess Im limited. I tried vpsland and they were terrible.
Dreamhost imo sucks, I also have them.
Bluehost is ok, 24 hour live chat is nice but their servers go down atleast once a month, people might say the do not but I work all the time and for the last 6 months they have gone down atleast once a month. Usually for about 30 minutes but still, its annoying because I have people on my site.
I used godaddy before, I dont have them anymore, a lot of people seem to dislike them. I never had a problems but I wasnt online full time then so cant really comment now.
These are all my opinions and you might experience different. These are all the hosting companies I have used so I cant compare to others. Ive looked at a lot, especially for vps. I think for shared hostgator is the best but I have not used them.

Hostgator is not what they used to be... LOL in their managed web hosting they are not taking even regular backup which they should have... If you loose any data or server crashes they you are lost soul... So decide carefully before picking one.. Lots of companies in market, find some good one... I don't have any good experience only had bad experience with hostgator which I shared... I left them after 4-5 years of using...
damn i was just about to sign up with them too.. seemed like the best choice out there

yes u can try Hotgator and give it a try, i use also Justhost, havent had problems untill now except the odd down servers sometimes that is quite annoying.

dumbass, they are just as bad, welcome to cheap generic hosting, volumedrive.com/order/ for a decent vps cheap otherwise expect the same problems again and again

appliedi.net is a good host. I use them for just about everything. Good guys in support and at the helm. They won't hit your for a spike in traffic. They actually congratulate you, and let you know that will need to move to a higher plan before they do anything.

their live 24x7 support is ready to solve any support request include third party script problem.

Coz you need good or best hosting to make money? LMAO I don`t know either. I had justhost and they were alright, now I have VPS
