Best Web 2.0 Platforms for MANUAL work? + Is it worth it?

In YOUR opinion, which web 2.0 platforms do you think would it be worth investing time into building a legit web 2.0 property (with unique content) as a first tier for consistent backlinks to the money site. I am guessing blogspot, blogger, tumblr, squiddo, hubpages... but of course it would take far too much effort to develop a web 2.0 on each of these platforms manually -- so which ones are the BEST?

Now I feel pretty noobish in this department, but if I consistently build links to my money site from the SAME web 2.0 property (that has unique content), will the links eventually just stop counting?

If you want to do it right it's a big effort as your authority for your web2 sites needs your active participation and fans/supporters so it can pass any significant juice to money site. It's worth the effort if you think in longer time frames and are willing to put work into it.

It works in short times frames as well, but the rise in rankings will move down if your web2 properties don't gain popularity over time.

You need to be smart and make your own experiences. I think WP and Tumblr are good because they are indexed quickly. Hubpages can send juice and visitors if you hit a popular topic.

When you buy a nice ferrari car, it will look really nice, your friends will think its great. but what use is the ferrari without any fuel running it. You need fuel.

Its the same with web 2.0's. You make a great web 2.0 but there's nothing to 'drive' them. This is where you have to think of a fuel that your web 2.0 deserves. but it has to be the right fuel. if you put diesel in an unleaded petrol car, it wont work. The correct fuel is important.

As for your other question. If you have 10 cars, all different makes and models. example one ferrari, one bmw, one honda, one bugatti. They are all different but they all use the same fuel and they all look nice.

Once again web 2.0s can all be different but all of them use the same 'fuel' so google will still love them.

I'd be rather cautious to put too much effort in websites I do not own. WP, Blogspot could remove your site anytime they like. So I rather invest in 2-tier sites on my own domains.

If you are building web2s manually then you will want to make sure there is more power going to the web2s. If you are adding more content to them than 1 post then also look into building backlinks to them as well, the likes of high pr forum profiles, bookmarks, high pr blog posts. This will give the web2 properties more power and the link juice will flow through to your main money site.

I do most of my programming in Joomla, mainly because every site I've ever wanted to design has been within Joomla's capabilities so I've never bothered to learn any other system.

It makes websites pretty easy once you know what you're doing (of course that applies to other CMSes too) and I can make a website that I'm really happy with in a days work. When I say that I'm happy with these sites, I mean that they're smart and they look eyecatching.

So my strategy is that for each money site I have a bunch of web2.0s but only about two that I have spent a day or so designing. When I'm building them, I try to think of user participation: articles with a comments box at the bottom, an "add your feedback" box and that sort of thing. The idea is that if the site's looking good enough, the users will add more unique content for me and if all goes well even link to it.

Sometimes this strategy is more effective than other times but I've got one web2.0 at the moment that's working really well. It might have taken a days work to begin with but it's sending more traffic to the money site than Google is sending directly. Every day people add more comments, and they've been having arguments on the comments which is great (as long as it doesn't get out of hand) because it looks like people keep returning to see who's winning the fight.

The only work for me is to keep an eye on the comments to make sure I don't get bots or my competitors promoting themselves. I'd definitely recommend putting in a sensible amount of time investment to create really high-quality web2.0s.

I think web 2.0 is an important aspect for any link building. I use original content for all my web 2.0 properties. No Spunned versions. All those web 2.0 will direct to my main site and then I will add high PR blog comments, profile backlinks, social bookmarking to my main web 2.0. What I normally to is, I try to get an PR on all those web 2.0 links, this way I get High PR backlinks from those web 2.0.

But again, everything depends on what kind of strategy you would make and nothing would work unless you give it a try.

Building web 2.0 is considered a whitehat SEO technique and google won't penalise you if you're doing anything shady.Try and get seo spyglass and see your competitor backlinks.

I started out a bunch of manual web 2.0 as tier one about 6 months ago. As it turns out, I didn't really have a lot of time to keep on posting to the web 2.0 or to build backlinks to them, but I did some initial work on them and then left them alone.
I've just checked them, and although its not a lot, my hubpages has PR2 and squidoo has PR1, with blogspot, wordpress and tumblr PR0. I remember buying some likes for the hubpages and squidoo from fiverr and that seemed to help.
So, if you had time to invest in 5 web 2.0 I'd choose the above, and if only one then I'd choose hubpages. You need an overall score >75 to make your backlinks count, and this can take some time, but once you get there then you have a PR 2+ with backlinks. ps it does take some time, but I only did 3 hubs and got PR 2.
