I am really interested in learning more about backlinks and how to acquire the best quality ones. I think that we're all aware of how important and benefical backlinks can be when it comes to reaching and improving your SEO ranking of your website or blog.I have a close friend that is struggling with getting the good kind of backlinks. He even wanted to buy them but I talked him out of it and this is why I need some help.I want to be able to tell him the best and the most effective ways of getting quality backlinks. Is guest posting method still relevant or is there a better way nowadays?All of your help is greatly appreciated

I believe guest posting is still a most powerful and important strategy in link building . When it comes to SEO, guest posting on other sites is five times as valuable as creating new content on your own site.

Of course to buy backlinks is much easier, but you have to make sure that they are built from relevant web pages, have proper anchors etc. Quality should be above all. Guest posting works, but for a more diverse backlink profile you should have various types of links.

• Provide a testimonial
• Write a good guest post
• Find competitors' common backlinks
• Find the strongest competitors healthy backlinks
• Be aware of new links acquired by competitors
• Infographics
• Research reports and case studies

If you have a link list, filtering those edu or gov links would definitely be a boost - those sites are regularly updated, but if you are able to drop a link or two there, it would definitely be an advantage.
I'd personally filter sites with high TF, and PA second, and those are some of the 2 metrics that I use when filtering quality sites - this takes time though.

Guest posting is obviously one of the more newbie friendly, but it's very time-consuming. That's one of the hard parts for people who are new to this whole business: finding the time to do all of the tasks.

Another difficult aspect is building enough links and having a good balance of diversity. I still think it's a great idea for new people to do some of this stuff on their own, to learn the ropes and know what to look for. After that, I think buying is the wiser use of time as long as you can find a vendor that you like. The guy in my signature does a nice job offering a diversity package. I was impressed with the reports he provided and the overall quality of the content for the price. Something to think about once your friend decides he wants to use his time a bit differently.

In my opinion Guest posting, keyword rich quality content and internal linking play big role in site ranking.
