Best way to manage comments in Wordpress

I have blogs with hundreds of comments on certain posts, and I'm wondering if there is a plugin or better way to manage them without losing out on the SEO benefit.

Right now I use lazy load comments but it loads slowly, and the page kind of jumps around while they're loading.

Is there a better script, plugin or approach to handling hundreds of comments in wordpress?

I use wpdiscuz plugin. When comment numbers go high it limit the comment numbers and add a "Load More" button

good recommendation
 
If your users promptly post several comments, WordPress will show an error message that asks them to slow down and not post comments too fast. Comment Control plugin, it allows your readers to comment quickly without WordPress telling them to slow down
 
There are tons of plugins, the best advice is to only approve users after a couple of proven comments. Do not let a free for all go on in the comments.

Turn them off completely. No point, all you get are spam links and bots. Too much maintenance.
 
WPDiscuz did the trick, thanks for helping! It looks much better, and is loading much smoother.
