anyone have any suggestions to link and partner several blogs together to form a network? then have the blog posts from each site post on a portal site?

Don't link them together, it just creates easy footprint for G. The trick is to really avoid that blog network look so that G will see your blogs as natural link sources.

yes, best scenario is not to interlink at all. What works for me as well is random one way linking with making sure no backlinking is done. Like domain1 links to domain13, domain7 links to domain35... but making sure for example domain35 will never link back to domain7

ok. well i will take that advice i guess. but if i did want to link all sites and have each sites posts publish on a main portal homepage, anyone know of a way to do that?

But why in the world would you want to do that? The point of building a network is to stay under the radar and leverage it...

That is like picking up the phone and calling Google and just handing them over a list of URL's to clip....

The whole point of a network is to make it look like a legitimate large amount of sites.

okay, why on earth would you be willing to give google "tips" (footprint) about your network and get it banned in the process? Really, stop thinking about interlinking

1. different domain registration dates
2. private registration
3. different ip addresses for hosting
4. dont use the same nameservers
5. dont use the same analytics
6. dont link networks together
7. link to other sites not just your main site
8. create unique content to build higher authority

just a few tips to start. these are the more important factors.

This can very well help you I suppose...!

ok. well can someone tell me how blog networks like livestrong.com, yardbarker, and the whole sheknows network get so much traffic and dont seem to have a problem with linking sites together and worrying about ranking?

as i said in your pm, for every rule there are exceptions for the big players

Responded to your PM...not sure what you are trying to accomplish? Those blogs you mention make their money from advertisements. Are you trying to build a blog for personal SEO gains? Yardbarker is owned by Fox, Sheknows is owned by a private LLC...so they are not a "network" owned by a single entity.

What are you tying to accomplish with your blog network? That is the question.

A network to accomplish what???? Those sites you mention are not a "network".....

Are you looking to:

1. Start a news blog network and monetize with ads?
2. Start a private blog network for SEO purposes?

You are using a very bad example as it is not a network...

Not sure what your objective is. Ad revenue? SEO?

Responded, but let me just address it here as well for others.

Simply building a network of blogs or linking them together isn't going to bring traffic.

If you want to build a network of blogs in order to attract ad revenue then you need to:

Create interesting blogs that contain information that readers are interested in and will cause them to come back often. There is no secret formula. The blogs you give as examples are popular not because they are in a network, but because they have a huge following due to their content. These are also run by advertising agencies and marketing firms with millions of dollars.

It iwll be an uphill battle, but it can be done. Look at home many popular blogs that now make millions were started by someone with no money...but a GREAT concept and idea. So, you need to fist find your idea or concept and build on that.

Good luck.
