Hey,

I'm interested in learning website development/programming and I was wondering how did you guys learn and what may be the best way to do so.

Thank you.

Thread moved.

I am in webdev for more than 5+ approx. Probably, the first intension was to create my own website. I had some previous knowledge of HTML/CSS, i bought a book about PHP and started coding. I suppose, the first project wasn't coded really well but you keep learning all the time. Then i tried new things and so on. I got a job..next job and again another job. Nowadays for example i learn more about javascript frameworks, various technologies which you can use to build up web projects and so on.

There are many resources to learn from on the internet. I would personally recommend some book for beginners, video course like udemy one and with some base knowledge start doing something. Try to make a blog website with administration. You will use things you have previously learned, find answers to problems which you need to solve and much more. You can start with just simple design or try backend / frontend stuff. Many options here what to do.

There are a lot of guides, lectures, and good long articles at free access. But I don't think it's useful. I mean, developing from cover to cover is very compli

I would recommend w3schools to dive in basic concepts of web development, also on youtube you can find plenty of good tutorials. Start with simple html, css, after that learn js, jQuery and try to make simple web apps. Then you are ready to dive in more complex things like angular for fron-end and php\node for the back-end part.

IMO freecodecamp is one of the best sites to learn web development. It is a free resource and the courses are easy to digest. They don't overload you with stuff, each and every chapter is crisp and on successful completion of every chapter will give you a boost to complete more chapters. Hope this helps you. All the best.

I learned through YouTube and Lynda
If you are looking for a job u need to learn all the coding languages
or WordPress, HTML, CSS, basic JavaScript is enough for freelancing.

There are a lot of ways to learn web development.
I tried courses on Udemy, Udacity + Coursers on edx, Coursera
Also there is a great source on github where you can get links to free courses where you learn basics of CS (Computer Science):
Cannot put links, so search on Google for: github ossu computer-science

On the bottom there is a course for Full Stack Front End Development, so you can get a really great knowledge (I am currently doing that course).
And remember to put on practice everything you learn!:)

There are many good Youtube channels for newbies.
Also I would suggest you to try codeacademy as you will have practice from the very beginning and your skills will be built much faster.

It depends what kind you are trying to learn. Simple front-end? Look into Squarespace, Wix, Wordpress. Online store? Look at Shopify & Wordpress/Woo-commerce.

Don't try codeacademy with your phone lol it didn't work for me. Froze twice. Damn I can't wait to buy a new laptop this week.

Once you know the basics of html and CSS, I would recommend getting to know Pug and a CSS preprocessor, my favourite is Stylus.
you'll never look back
wouldn't even dream of starting a project without them
