Best way to hide affiliate links?

Hello,

For what I been reading there it seems that G00gle penalizes affiliate URL links on your site (if you have too many), is this true? Can anyone affiliate marketer confirm? If so, what is the best way or technique to hide this URLs to avoid this to happen? or what you recommend?

I use pretty link plugin in Wordpress. Not sure Google penalises you for the link, but looks cleaner on your site.

If you are an affiliate marketer, you WILL have affiliate links on your site. Unless you are stuffing tons of links into every post and there are no other outbound links on your site to quality reference websites, you dont really have to worry. Btw, cleaner links look and convert better. So take a look at the plugin drogon mentioned.

Cloak your affiliate URL using 'thirsty affiliate' or any wp plugin you prefer. Your affiliate URL would become like:

www.yourdomain.com/recommended/product

Now Add following in your robot.txt

User-agent: *
Disallow: /recommended/

Use url shortener like: goo.gl, bit.ly, ow.ly, bit.do, etc

As the others said, use a url shortener or have a redirect page on your website (or a redirection plugin if you use WP).

Still, keep in mind that having a few links won't get you a Google penalty, so don't worry so much.

For Wordpress, there is an option that let you add nofollow attribute to all links cloaked using plugin, which will help you to stop passing link juice to affiliate links.

You can't hide anything from Google. Like others said either 301 or No follow or Use some plugins. Here, I found an article that will clearly explain Best way to hide affiliate links? Good luck!

That's an interesting article but I'm not sure all of it is correct. E.g.

"by making it essentially a nofollow by default. When a link is hidden in a script like this, it won't be parsed at all, so you don't have to worry about sending link juice to a site you wouldn't otherwise want to support"

Link juice certainly does flow through 301 redirects so this isn't doing anything to no-follow the links, I think you'd still have to add the no-follow tag to achieve this.

if you don't want to use url shortner then make a sample php re director file with your aff urls in it then it's completely hidden too.
