Hi Guys,

I'm going to launch a free piece of software shortly that will allow those who promote it to earn recurring commision. It is an IM/SEO based piece of software that I could easily sell but I'm just going to give it away for free.

In the build up to the launch I would like to get as many relevant blog/site owners on board to promote it as possible no matter how big/small.

One way I thought about doing this is to mass mail to a targeted list of people? I can scrape relevant blogs and extract emails/contact forms for example however this steps into the realms of spamming/deliverability and maybe crossing a line somewhat.

What advice do you have?

I advice that you first send them 10-20 High Quality (with great content) follow up emails for like 20 days (1 email per day). In the end of every email tell them that something big is coming which is free. As soon as 20 days come to end reveal the software by email bit by bit, but don't give them link. And just 2 days before launch , tell them it's launching in 2 days and then on last day bam! send thememail with link and some extra text about your software features.

This is actually a Marketing Psychology called "Consistency". Always make them BEG FOR MORE :). Make sure the Follow-up Emails you send are of High Quality. Not only this ends in like 80% - 90% conversions but it develops your Authority in front of them. Hope it helps.

lol 20 follow up emails ? Dont you think they will get bored reading them ?

If you scrape emails then be very careful and selective when doing so. All the anti-spam companies drop spamtrap emails over the net and if you mail them you'll have a harder time inboxing. You also won't find newsletter providers that will send to scraped lists or even single optin. You would need to use your own server or an SMTP service (ex: amazon ses)

To get initial people onboard you could use linkedin and contact relevant people on there. There was a program that I can't recall the name of that scraped and messaged them. Using social media could also be beneficial and avoids the inboxing/spamtrap issue.

Hi,

I think the original point was missed - I want to get in touch with people to spread the word, not push people through a sales funnel (yet)

Yes I hadn't though about social media avenus I like that idea thanks Zapdos - there must be a tool I can use to help automate that. Perhaps bash in a list of URLS and it returns a list of found social profiles? Surely something like that exists!

Why not just contact list owners and ask them straight out. Most products and salespages have contact us type of pages. It would be a numbers game in that case.

I would however advice to build up a relationship with them. It's basically trying to connect with people, making them feel good and try to leverage that to get them to promote your stuff.

I am personally not really into IM. I got a tiny list. But wouldn't mind telling them about it if its resonates with my list.

On your site you mentioned BuzzBundle. Would that not work for what you want?
