Best way to get youtube subs?

In my experience this is generally never worth it, others may have better results though. Just crank out a ton of worth watching videos, "good" is always up for debate of course. Whatever you do, don't film them at midnight, outside, with a camera made in the early 2000's.

I am currently watching a guy who is hard to understand because his accent, but the topic he covers is somewhat interesting. The kicker for me is his personality the video quality itself is "OK". His subs are growing pretty good now since I first spotted him at around 700 subs (4 months have gone by) he is around 1200 now.

Give away's only really work if there is a hype to start with. If the content on the channel suck itself, give away won't really make any difference.
 
My suggestion is to upload highly engaging and informative videos.

The second way is uploading a video in a week or at least twice in a month which will help you to build a strong relationship with your existing subscribers and also helps to get more new subs. Besides, you can also try giveaways.
 
Get viewers, ask them to subscribe in return for something, usually more content depending upon what you provide.
