Best way to create a tube site?

So, let's say I wanted to create a tube-site, (for any niche, really.. however this ones going to be adult) how would you recommend it being done.
Should I link ( <embed> ) to other tube sites where I have my content uploaded, or should I host the videos on my own site and stream them through an in-house web-player?

Creating the web-player wont be a problem at all, and if I create the web-player I can definately display advertisements before the video starts, but then I would run into worrying about the speed of the website. Should I look into hosting on a VPS instead of a shared webhost? So I can use the 1Gbit connections they offer?

Any help would be appreciated.

There are a lot of plugins and themes that can do most of the work for you! Just Google 'Tube site Wordpress' or 'Tube theme Wordpress'.

I don't really want to use wordpress. I know it's better for SEO and stuff apparently, but I just have this thing about doing the work myself. I feel like I get more out of it. Even if I don't earn anything out of it.

First question is "How deep are your pockets?" because paying for all of that bandwidth if you host
the videos yourself can get pretty.... expensive! So you might want to embed them first with a tube
plugin to test the water.
