I have recently hired a few writers, and I want to be able to check how unique they are before I post anything to my sites.

What is the best way to do this?

copyscape is the best way for you.It takes 0.05$ for per article checking but supper cool service.

I was in a similar situation to yours. I used copyscape and it did the job perfect.

I agree with copyscape.. Also check out a free program called UN.CO.VER

will the payed copy scape searches come back with a unique percentage?

Last time I used it I don't recall seeing a percentage but it did give info like "124" words match your text. Which is usually all I need to know, from that you can figure out a percentage if needed.

After I post to my site, I run a copy scape if I'm skeptical, it does the trick.

What percentage should I be aiming for?

it seems that most of mine are 10-25 % similar to other pages

Here is how it reads, does that means 1 % similar right? The page below has 37 words matching 1% of the page, as highlighted below:

Heres a free site that I use percentdupe dot com

It does a decent job for free.

I agree with the others, copyscape is definitely at the top of the list.

I recently started using UN.CO.VER (unique content verifier). It is a free app.

+1 for UN.CO.VER - free and works well. And it's a desktop app.
