I don't know what kind of security you need, but this should be fine with the VPNs. Tweak a bit on your router and make it more secure (not useless ports open, WIFI Security, etc.), and check the Windows Firewall for allowed/not allowed incoming connections.
If unsatisfied, put a Socks5 on your VPN and use some Firefox extensions.

RDP or VPS is too much, and the same goes for privacy browsers - you can achieve the same results with the points I mentioned.
But remember: It's always "bad" for your user experience while surfing because anything gets suddenly blocked, or you need to allow any service to be blocked.

Conclusion: Take ExpressVPN; you have a broad server variation and suitable protocols - The downside is that it's expensive if it's not on sale.
I used Surfshark a lot, but it's still not as good as ExpressVPN or PureVPN.

But as the Members said before, it depends on your specific use case and the level of privacy you want to have.

Edit: I do not use Mullvad, even though I have a subscription. It interferes to often with other applications, and the connection - at least for me, forces Mullvad to Kill allways Switch (which is activated by me)

At least there is common sense with Mullvad.
You can try ExpressVPN for free; I don't know what the others offer.
Maybe there is a Valentines-Special to protect you from Cheating your girlfriend

So, I have tried almost every VPN, and I'm sure you will be OK with Express or Surfshark.
Mullvad ofc. Suppose it's working for you.

But what I do not like is NordVPN.
Even though they have privacy and all that stuff, I have a subscription there, but it's overhyped somehow.

I never had any issues with that.
