I'm looking for video editing software that is capable of producing videos like how the big names promote their products with great videos.

Anyone know any for Windows 7?

I've searched Google and I can't make my decision which is better. I prefer "free" software. :p

    Thanks!

    I use Final Cut...which wasn't free.

Easy to use and has done everything I've asked of it.

Sony Vegas. The best video editing program I ever used.

Sony Vegas seemed the easiest to use for me. Transitions were so easy, just overlap two clips. I use a portable version of Windows MovieMaker for ultraquick jobbies, but there are a lot of things you can't import. It's really not as bad as its made out compared to other free programs.

OK I've got Sony Vegas Pro 9.0c now.

Anyone know how to add special effects?

For special effects, and especially for shorter movies (>5 minutes) Adobe After Effects is really great! Definitely the way to go... You can do amazing things with the right plugins. Premier is more for editing longer pieces of videos and layering, but not really for special effects.

Avid and Pinnacle Studio are also excellent, but are very hard to get for free, and have much steeper learning curves...

I've not got any experience with Vegas to compare them, but for web videos (and even for non-web stuff) I almost always use After Effects.

Adobe Premier is the only one I have had experience with and I really liked it. Not sure about the special effects though, there are many plugins for the software.
