As funny as it may sound, camtasia 9 does a pretty decent job at editing simple text video, and they end up looking pretty cool with the animations it includes

There are many software I have used for this.
Vegas, Final Cut, etc.
I must say Adobe Premiere is the most complete, cause if you want to escalate, you can jump into learning After Effects and 3d modelling.
