I bought a few expired domains, the 1st one I can actually use had a 301 redirect to a spammy site for years but managed to keep a Moz page score of 45 and domain score of 38. I was wondering how to best utilize this one? Should I scrape the old site page from wayback and use WP to make it sort of like that and then just put a blurb on the site linking it to my money site ? The site I bought has to do with dogs, my site is about travelling so I was going to link it with the text "travelling with dogs" or something like that. Or should I just 301 redirect ?

The other sites I bought were travel sites and never had 301's or spam links etc how should I use those ?

Thanks just getting my feet wet again after being away from SEO for years.

Those that you know are decent can be pointed directly to money sites, the rest you could use as tier 2.

Well... the 301 redirect in the past isn't a problem at all. No idea why people are worried about that. The 301 can pass penalty, but just one way. If the domain which was redirected was penalized, then the site it was redirecting into can get penalized too, but not the other way around, so don't worry about redirects. If they are not too blatant at least.

About using expired domains for 301 redirects. No. I don't know why this technique is still so popular. Even if you do everything right, there is a good chance, that you won't see anything happening. And even if you will, it will take ages to take effect. Build a PBN out of those sites. Find some connection between your money site niche and the niche of those domains and you will be just fine.

Add some content on each of those domains and check if they get indexed on Google before you 301.

If they don't get indexed with the new content within3 to 4 weeks, forget about it, 301 will do nothing.
