Hi bhw i recently built a website based on funny/humour niche, and i think its completed (without monetization though). The next thing is to get traffic. I heard that the best method of traffic is social(fb,twitter etc). I already have a fb fan page but with few fans, how can i get more fans to push traffic to my website? and also use twitter to link to my site. I also need other free traffic method i can use. the site is humouroffice . info . Thanks much for your help.

Take a look at Mgid - they work with traffic exchanges for sites like yours.

Also yes, Social is going to be one of your strong points in driving traffic

i tried mgid, said i must have 1000 traffic before i can be accepted.

it depends what you plan to do with the account if your going to do blackhat then no also you should make new social media accounts for each new site you make then pump up your followers and likes.

Honestly, I think .info might have been your first mistake...

Yes honestly, i think i made a mistake with .info, but my plan is after a decent traffic and monetization, i will flip it for a few bucks.

You could always get a new domain and redirect the traffic from your .info domain if the site grows enough to where you want to hang onto it

Social Media is the great way in getting huge amount of traffic, but niche relevant forums also generate natural traffic on your blog if members of forum likes your posts funny images etc. For facebook like try to use social contact and like your page by your friends if you are success in getting 50 likes then your like increased automatically by your friends of friends.

You can try to buy cheap traffic from fb, look some other people with fan pages in the same niche and ask them to publish a link to your website on their page, for a few $$

if you'll get bigger, and your site name is something yoursite.info, many of your fans will forget to put on the .info, they are likely to go for yoursite.com.
and google ranks .com before .info

Go for Reddit. For a starter it is a big traffic inflow. I get a lot of traffic for my new Sci-Fi blog in the evening (CET). You can do far better posting your articles there, since they are humour.

But what is the best way to monetize this type of traffic?
