hey everyone I used to use time tracking and procrastination software to keep me honest but I stopped a while back I'm thinking about reconsidering again I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations.

The following are the ones I'm looking at

Rescue time - 6.75 a month
time camp - free for basic, 7 a month for extra
timedoctor - 5 a month
activtrak - free for solo
toggl - 9 a month

May I also suggest my (slightly outdated) productivity and efficiency guide: https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/sherbert-hoovers-ultimate-efficiency-guide-working-at-100-productivity-and-making.820134/

The aspie in me just does simple spreadsheets. I take all the time from different categories daily and add them together for a clean report at the end of the month. It's highly effective at pushing me to my limits. Can get overwhelming if you track too much.

this is a phenomenal guide my friend thank you so much for sharing. I actually started incorporating morning meditation after reading about it through tools from Titans a book I recently purchased it's been helping a lot surprisingly I'm not usually the type of person that does any of this holistic stuff but it's really helped and calming me down and clearing my mind.

A Pomodoro timer doesn't really work for me because I run a business other than my Internet marketing where I have people walking in to my office and asking me questions and calls sporadically throughout the day so there would be a lot of interruption in the rhythm. The best I can hope for is something like revive time that keeps me honest and make sure I go back to the tasks.

A notebook and a pen should be enough.
Write everything you were doing that day.
Multiple times per day.
Try it for a week.

Beside that, if you don't have real problems with procrastination, and just with time management that I strongly recommend going through David Allen's Getting Things Done.
You will need some time to figure out everything and to adjust some things for yourself.
But, it's worth it.

Toggl is by far the best, add Leechblock on your browser and you've regained 85% of your productivity!

I use rescue time free version to track my activities. I may start using the premium version soon.

though I used to be a big fan of the pen and paper method I kind of like something like rescue time that shows you charts of how much productivity you have and where you're wasting time it kind of is like an eye-opener tto show me where I'm screwing up and how I could be doing better. Also there some gamification there for me where I can daily try and increase my productivity and build upon the last day.

its settled then I'm going to give rescue time I try, thanks forum brethren. :)

Yes, you're right, before I was using it I was like: Today I've programmed for 4-5 hours, when in fact I was programming only for 2-3 hours and I was wasting a hour or more on other things.

I use todolist by abstractspoon to keep track of all the things I have to do. tried a lot of software and this one's great.
At night i take a piece of paper and write down the most important things i have to the next day. Proven system and works well. Start with the biggest/hardest task and work your way down.

Stopping from time wasting activities is about rewriting your bad habits with good habits. I blocked all bad time wasting sites i mindlessly browsed in my hosts.etc file.

Self help books help you a lot in terms of the mental shifts you need to make. Check out The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg and anything by Brian Tracy
