All of the following plugins are free. Some of these are not related to SEO, but I recommend using them anyway.

- WordFence Security - Security plugin.
- StarBox - Adds an author biography box at the end of each post.
- Simple 301 Redirects - self-explanatory.

What does Yoast do? I've always used Greg's SEO plugin, it works well but if there is something out there that's better, I'd definitely be willing to switch.
