So Google crushed my older website in SERPs for some keywords... Which sucks.

I'm starting up a new website, and I'm wondering what are the best SEO methods to use. My new site will have all quality content. No spun crap...

What should I NOT do? What SHOULD I do?

Thanks for you comments!

I'm trying a different strategie at the moment:

Instead of pushing only a few keywords i do a spread of many keywords.

For this i do following:

1. Export organic keywords from ahrefs. It shows what pages of your site are naturally placed for a keyword.
2. With my "Keyword Variator" (another Thread here on BHW) i shuffle the keywords so it would take years until an anchor repeats
3. I arrange them to url.com#keyword
4. I use GSA to place the links. Meantime it supports so many platform that it brings a good variation.
5. I also use GSA for Tier2 in addition to Backlinks Indexer.

Sure, that there are many keywords which bring only 100 Visitor in a month but because i do not pushing only a view kw's Google doesn't recognize it. The actual list for this site has about 200 Keywords.
In Piwik i see a constant growing chart so i guess it works.

The disadvatage is, that it takes more time but because GSA is "no Hands" it's not much work.

What's GSA?

Do you mean GSA Rapis Indexer or some other tool?

GSA Search Engine Ranker. A very good tool with many Options. There's a seperate Thread here on BHW.

promote your website in natural ways on forums, blogs and bookmarking sites.

follow bhw regularly and apply the ideas that you get from other members.

cheers

I think the main thing to take away from the latest update is anchor text diversity, randomize it as much as possible.

GSA SEO Indexer you will get your site indexed by search engines like yahoo or Bing within minutes
The technique is very popular to SEO specialists and works by submitting your site to a lot whois and statistics websites and search engines by itself, resulting in many back links.
New seo strategies like PDF submission, slide submission, image optimization, are new and effective method.

I would avoid spam and crummy links as much as possible.

With the new google algo (post Panda) you are supposed to watch your backlinks. GSA, IMO, is not suitable for direct links to money site, as you never know where it places your links. I suggest GSA for linking to Tier 1, unless you are not worried about what would happen to your money site.

make sure at-least 50% of your anchor text does not include your keywords...

Daymmm...effectively G has destroyed 50% of our linking power, just like that. What happened to the good ol' days of hammering one keyword like laser beam focus...

Now we are told to make links with bollocks like "click here for more useful unique content!!" or "www.myphaggoturls.com" jeeez

I've created a few websites after the update — in not-so-competitive markets — and sent just a few normal, web 2.0 links (unique content as well as spun content), manual blog comments (from relevant blogs) etc to them and they are ranking on page 1, some inside top 5. Now, it'll be interesting to see how this goes for the next couple of weeks because, obviously, these sites weren't affected by the Penguin update but I suspect the rankings won't sustain.

I'd just stay away from large spikes of links, concentrated anchor texts and heavy on-page optimization for now. serpIQ has some really interesting data for a number of keywords. :)
