i checked out the lynda course out of curiosity and thought it was outdated and long winded... personally you will find many of the basic info needed on bhw... just hit the search button...

it comes down to getting links. A 1-2 year old domain can rank for decent terms provided it get links. Getting good do-follow links requires money & time. Buy some links and see what happens.

just pick a book and work it, follow it

do not start looking around the corner for the next best thing, finsh what you start,

only follow 3 so called gurus, cancel all other email list, follow only a few, you will be much further ahead

there you go..read 1000+ courses and you wil lccome to the same conclusion.

Stop buying those courses.

1. Read whatever you can find on the net
2. Visit WF
3. Visit BHW

It'll cover almost 90% of SEO stuff you need to know.

I recommend a lot of the stuff above plus a few blogs such as the big g ones which include golden posts like how big g wants you to link.

Lynda.com good too as I like watching vids.

Also seomoz and search engine watch.

BHW member downloads rocks too!!!

Make sure you know how to plan SEO, do keyword research properly also learn onsite optomisation and link building.

Keyword research is the most important thing to learn and I found learning SEO Elite and Market Samurai very very useful. If you are thinking about buying a course dont - use the members DL section and buy stuff if you think its worth it as reference. If you have money buying Market Samurai i believe is the best investment IMHO but I am still learning as are a lot of ppl.

EDIT: A key bit of advice is stop buying expensive courses.

Most of the information you'll need can be found here on BHW. It's always good to read some of the good SEO blogs to keep up with all of the new theory. My favorite blog to check out is BlueHatSEO. It is normally some pretty advanced stuff, but will be a wealth of information once you get that far.

I learned about SEO without spending a dime by searching the big G and reading all of the great info here when I first joined BHW.

I think the golden rule is just because a product is $$$ doesnt necessarily mean its any good at all.

Something I nearly bought as a n00b was shared here and turned out to be one of the worst products ever with a great sales page. It got flamed to f6&k and the ppl that tested got sites deindexed and accs banned (it wasnt pretty). That was an expensive product, reading some of the free stuff above and the forum would have put you in 100000x better shape than buying it.

I am also very glad I found this place.

theres a lot more to seo than just link building - it starts with your onsite seo if you do that properly you can save yourself a ton of money and time if your simply set on link building...
