If you're a newbie to SEO then you shouldn't even be thinking about tools yet. The point of tools is so you can automate a lot of the things you should be doing. But you need to understand what it is your trying to do before you start automating anything.

Also before you start trying to use any Black Hat SEO methods, it's a good idea to really understand White Hat SEO. If you don't understand what you're doing and you start trying to blast out a bunch of blog comments or profile links or whatever, the chances are good that you'll only make things worse for your website instead of better.

You should start by going to the White Hat SEO forum and read through the sticky threads there. Then after reading those threads browse through the other threads in that forum and get an idea of what you should be doing. Then start applying those methods to your website to see how it all works.

After you have some idea of how to build and promote your site, then go into the Black Hat SEO forum and read the sticky threads there. After learning how to do White Hat site promotion, the Black Hat methods explained will make much more sense. Then browse through the Black Hat forums to see what other people are doing that works. Once you do that then you'll have an idea of which tools will be the most beneficial for your own projects.

Kingfresh is right, the first tool you need to use is your brain. Only after you've used that is it time to start using additional tools.

yes, that's right you should do all the seo things manually if you are new...
SEO tools deal mainly with getting backlinks from different sources. 2 great tools are scrapebox and xrumer.
