I think Techsmith's Snagit is hard to beat, it's not free but a simple G search and you should find plenty of working serials for it.
One feature I particularly like is you can take a screenshot and upload it to say Flickr all in one click, the url is automatically saved to your clipboard so you can share it or embed it in a forum post. It's really convenient... check it out

i just use Alt+Print and past it into paint or similiar tool. gimp are great but loading time for gimp is to long, so i think the good old alt+print and paste>paint would fit.
