Best program to design websites?

What do you think is the best program? I can get anything I want so what are your recomendations?

Dreamweaver.. but I do know where you can get a copy of frontpage 2002 cheap :)
 
I dont care about prices...

Is dream weaver somewhat easy to use or does it require alot of work etc.?

I am using www dot nvu dot com (NVU). It's a free alternative to dreamweaver, lighter and good enough to start with !
With dreamweaver CS3, the software is eating half of my CPU for idling ...

Dramweaver is great, but a huge learning curve unless you are already a seasoned designer. I like XsitePro, I can make the same sites I can in dreamweaver and it is much more user friendly.
 
I have the latest version of Dreanweaver and Xsitepro.

I use Dreanweaver 95% of the time and yes it's easy to work but it will certainly require a few days to get familiar with the powerful features of it.

If you want something dead simple, take a look at xsitepro. It won't create extremely beautiful sites and the code is not clean. But, I never opened the instruction manual and I was able to create a few sites that are still generating a few hundreds per months for the last 2 years.
 
well... i think it depends more of what you're trying to accomplish with it. When you ask does it require a lot of work, what do you mean? a lot of work to achieve what exactly?

Like, if you want just a template generated website use something like phpnuke or whatnot and most of the work is done for you. but if you want to create something from complete scratch theres lots of software out there for website design and all of them follow the same basic principles, but in the end most of the work has to come from you anyway.
 
Thats relative dont you think? Dreamweaver is very easy for me, but thats because I know what I am doing.

If you are looking for drag and drop, use Googles new web page designer. If you are looking for robust software that will allow you to handle many tasks then use Dreamweaver.

PS - I am very glad that money is no object for you. We should all be so lucky.
 
XSitePro is good for marketers that need to get going soon and don't need any extras. This is designed for marketers...it puts in affiliate codes, keywords and is really good at making sales pages, squeeze pages.

Dreamweaver requires more knowledge but can do everything...programming, 2.0, php, asp, flash...etc.
 
I have used and tried alot of programs...and although I am a newspaper publisher and feel fairly comfortable around Photoshop, I found I could not wrap my brain around Dreamweaver...hewck I even took two classes on it. The program I started with and keep going back to is Netobjects Fusion. I like the idea that I can draw a box and place text in a specific spot on the page and when I publish it that it looks just the way I want. Also if I need to change anything I found Dreamweaver to be cumbersome...(*too hard)

I'm sure there are plenty here that'll sing the praises of Dreamweaver, but Netobjects Fusion has about 12 million copies out there...

I have the lynda.com video tutorial on dreamweaver. I havent watched it because I dont need it, but if you think it would be of use, I will upload it. I have heard good things about it.

Its really a matter of opinion and what you cut your teeth on. I have tried many WYSIWYG editors and I prefer dreamweaver, I also like the way that it uses layers, deals with site layouts, ftp an everything else.

You used to be able to get a 30 day trial of Dreamweaver but Im not sure if you still can since Adobe acquired it.
 
The easiest WYSIWYG editor to use is FrontPage. Dreamweaver is more advanced in my opinion but it's not as easy to use as FrontPage and has a sharper learning curve. I use both. For quick changes 9 out of 10 times I'll use FrontPage.

Money is definetly an object for me (why else would i be on this forum?).... Just not when it comes to do with software hint hint
 
With that hint, hint comment you might as well get both and play with both programs. Also MS came out with FrontPage's replacement. I've never used it or even remember the name but it's suppose to be better (cleaner web standard code) and more advance.

I agree with using NetObjects its easy and fast. I do have Dreamweaver but it has a pretty good learning curve. My view of this might change as i get better at using Dreamweaver. I like the way NetObjects is set up you can look at the whole site structure and drag pages to another part of the site and it automaticly changes the links for you. You can just click to add more pages and subpages. It has some good features. The only thing that i dont like is where with Dreamweaver i can grab almost any available template from the net open it and have the structure and graphics all in place NetObjects just makes a mess of the same template. If your going to use templates you almost always have to get templates made for NetObjects or you have to do some work getting them back in order so they look right.
 
With the way MS has to have the cert code for everything I would avoid it, that company is just plain stupid. I have used Dreamweaver years ago and liked what it did so I would recommend that, I had a hint hint copy of it. Still, nothing beats hand coding for a real site.
 
Don't know the language for it though......

MS does have a beta version out right now that is suppossed to compete with DW 8 and they will be discontinuing front page.. Maybe Ill check out all of these :-) Demo versions of course
 
I've used Adobe GoLive for years myself...but I am getting tired of it crashing all the time (no matter what computer I'm using.) I used Golive6 until recently when I switched to CS2 (still crashing.) I am ready to try something new as well! I just thought using Frontpage would be like going backwards but maybe not?
