I have seen many posts recently, all with conflicting prices. Once I am applicable I am hopefully going to apply to be a Junior VIP here on BHW, and the main things I will be selling are articles.

I was wondering what price you think I should be selling at? I have seen some 'English' people (Indian or somewhere non-native) offering less than $1/100 words, but then elsewhere I have seen people saying you won't get good quality work for $1/100.

My main concern is that even though my articles are written well, I will always lose competition to the '100% native English speakers'. So do you guys think I should price high and aim for an occasional sale, or should I price low, whilst still keeping the same quality, and go for lots of sales? (I type about 80-90 words a minute, so I can plough through articles I already have knowledge on)

I think you should start at lower prices, and once you get yourself out there and people begin to notice your quality, you might consider upping your prices a little bit. The most important thing is to start and get long-term clients.

Like 0.8/100? Would long time customers not be mad once I raise prices?

Probably not, if you continue providing quality content. If you end up with too much work and being unable to deliver articles to everyone, you will want to sort out those people who want to continue doing business with you and they will not mind paying you extra, as long as they are satisfied with your articles.

I don't think your costumers will get mad once your up your prices if your stuff is good. I imagine they'd just be glad to benefit from your initial low prices.

I have a writer doing 0.40 per 100 words and he's great considering he lives in india and is fluent in English. I tend to do business with cheaper prices, because they usually aren't that bad in their vocabulary and grammar.

The news keeps getting worse :( I guess I just need to find someone that is willing to pay 1/100. I really don't want to dip below that, because with paypal fees and conversion into gbp I will be left with little. My plan now is to make a professional site (just made it today) and try sell outside of forums lie this, instead to reputable blogs etc. We will see how it goes

What kind of benefits can you offer other than just articles and words? Do these artciles spark conversions? If so, tha tis a benefit of using your service, as opposed to clone#45,000 who can sell articles for 0.01/1,000 words.

There are people on the forum who charge 5 or 6 cents a word that get plenty of business. Some people won't go with a writer who doesn't charge less than 5 cents a word. And that's still amazingly cheap, all things considered.

I will never encourage an English native article writer to charge less than 5 cents per word for their work, unless you just suck at article writing. It's about how much you value your skill and time as a writer. Do you think your skills are worth $.30/100 words? Then charge that. But if you think you're worth more, then charge more. Trust me, someone on this forum is going to pay that price. It's just like a burger joint: some people like McDonald's, and some people (like me) won't ever eat there. We'd rather pay more ($10+) for a real burger.

All this "native talk".. Base your price on these factors: Skill level (spelling/grammar), Skill level (writing style) and which rate you would need to have a living wage writing full-time. Indians can survive on $1/100 words, Americans/Europeans can't. Don't sell yourself short just to attract customers, value yourself properly and with quality work you earn that rate.

Like others have said you should believe in your own ability. Believe me when people on sites like onedollarr offer articles you can realistically assume it'll be barely readable. Most of us are time poor, so good quality articles that do not need time to re-write and correct is worth paying for. I pay anything from $5.50 to $10 per 500 word article. Some i write myself but lack of time means i need good writers so am prepared to pay for it.
If your articles are well researched and well written then charge good money for them, you'll get it
