3 - Why don't you create a list of PR sites and submit to them; most of them syndicate their PRs between sites so eventually you'll find the same level of distribution like the big guns do. Talking after seeing the results from a secret experiment.

PR Newswire but it is very expensive. However it works very well so you just have to have the budget for it. Otherwise, PR Web is good.

As for the free versions, I actually haven't had good results with PR Log and did not get picked up in Google News for that. Instead, we got picked up by using another one that I had trialled however I can't remember what the name is right now.

Of course, if you're a legit company and want to get good coverage in your area or country then local newswires are good too.
