    Hi BHW,

What's the best way to build links for an existing commerce site? I've been building links towards my product page using web 2.0s but I've noticed they aren't ranked on google anymore. Should I be building links to main domain (www.domain.com)? or should i drive targeted keywords to my blog (www.domain.com/blog/reasonstobuythis)?

Is it possible that since I link directly to my product through 2.0s it is doing the google dance?

i'm tracking my links daily with my limited majestic, sem rush, moz open explorer searches.

Would love to hear opinions from people in the e-commerce seo field

Here is some practices for an E commerce vertical that might be helpful,

    1. Adding a blog to the site
You might feel that adding a blog and feeding it with fresh content about you might increase the traffic and some SERP as well. But when you start blogging about YOU there are chances of deviating from selling products to becoming a publisher which is not the motive of E Commerce. Write articles about interesting events, places or happenings related to the business and not extended review about products gives you an edge among your competitors and your visitors are exicted about your new effort to keep them informed.

    2. Facebook Page
Don't go behind people asking to like your business page. People are becoming immune to such requests now a days. Pull people to your page, work engaging campaigns and contests that make people participate and win.

    3. HQ Website Content
Content feeding is not about texts and pictures anymore. Try working around the usual fresh content feeding technique. There are some ecomerce sites that sells motor bike accesories which has a "How the product works/can be used" video below every text description. It's again a content that makes people click and watch and share to their fellow mates so quick than spending their time reading out the huge step by step procedure. Think out of the box to sort out what's best for your business.

Keeping all these in mind trying having a look at this article as well - https://moz.com/blog/creative-link-building-for-ecommerce-sites

    Hope this helps.

the best way is to get backlinks from relevant niches. Social media websites are also great way for that

Web 2.0's workm they build good Tier 1 links and context, but focus on a few that you make high quality so they have some power in the long run.

    Use a PBN.

Use social media to drive natural linkbuilding.

    Write good descriptions.

Blog about your products on mysite.com/blog and link to the product pages.

A mix of links from relevant niches and big authority sites. Send them to the main category pages.
