Hi,
I have my personal IG account with decent followings that I care about a lot and want to keep it safe.

I am also looking to do some edgy IG actions with a different, fake account of mine,
such as buying likes/followers to test SMM quality, do some scraping for research proposes (nothing too crazy with request amount)
And I was wondering, could doing those with my fake account impact my main account if they both log in with the same IP? (main account is perfectly clean)

if so, what would be better? get a permanent single IP with proxy for the fake account actions or use a VPN for the fake account with changing IPS?

Thank you

Get a private static residential proxy, that means ip is not changing per given time ( month, week, day etc ), and its only you on that ip so its secure.

You can get any regular proxy that is not static, residential and all that but, that proxies are detected by bigger apps/websites so can have negative impact overall on results. Example - you might get blocked for something earlier than you should because algos are sensing something because of network etc. Static residential proxy are same as your internet in your home so..

On that ip/proxy check all that panels. Keep in mind browser/device fingerprints.

You can make new account, spam it. You will not get banned on main account and all that.
But i know a lot of examples in head where google, facebook, instagram bans all account on same ip because couple of accounts were banned.

Take caution if you have valuable main account. Proxy is 3.5$ for residential per month. ( I'm not selling any proxy )

VPN have their use cases, but for this case stay away, because all ip addresses are flagged so you can imagine what would happen.
( Again im not saying you will get banned but stay away )
