I switched all my domains to 1 & 1 from GDaddy. GD was nice that it quickly updated the nameservers, but with 1 & 1 .com is just $6.99 and has free privacy. GD was charging $19.99 for privacy and then I think they dropped it to $9.99, but free is better. It does take longer for the nameservers to update though.

The thing is the so called private "who is" seems to be virtually worthless. The second somebody waves even the slightest threat at somebody like GoDaddy, they will release your details and quite often can your account until it's resolved even if it's a completely non issue.

Anybody know of a proper off shore domain hosting service?

NameCheap is the best. The pricing and interface and whoisguard make it the best. Try it and you will notice how good it is compared to the rest. GoDaddy is just popular, but NameCheap is the real deal.

Namecheap, ftw. For their most recent monthly coupons just hit up retailmenot*com and search. Always there. Ends up being less than 9 bucks for a domain with free Whois Guard and a great all-around service.

namecheap is really good.. jus search google for namecheap coupons and you save a little..

I didn't know about the free upgrade of privacy with 5 domains. Thanks.

Normally I just do them one at a time as I need them.

Time to plan ahead.
