Best Place to Purchase Bitcoins

Ok, you guys have sucked me in. I just got done reading Patel's thread and found some of the things happening in the future really interesting. I've been wanting to setup an account to buy/sell bitcoin for a little while now. The problem, aside from me being a bit of a cryptocurrency newb, is I've been reading sketchy things about about the vendors I was considering using. I've made an account with Mt. Gox and I was going to verify there as I heard they're more or the less the biggest company to trade with so I figured at least to get my feet wet I'd try there. I read though on here just recently someone had been going on 20 days now w/o a response from them about his verification and he had sent everything properly. So that kinda made me wonder there, I know there's been a ton of activity lately so I was thinking they're probably just pretty backed up. Then I saw a place called Coinbase. That started out great as the first couple reviews looked promising, unfortunately the deeper I dug the more and more I started to see a recurring theme of dodgy customer service, cancellations with very vague reasons if any, and some flat out shady practices in general. I'm not one that's going to just go off of the 1 angry flamer either, there's dozens of posts I just read dating up to as recently as last week.

So if you were to recommend a place that's efficient and trustworthy what would it be. I'm not trying to be an idiot and scam my way in or anything, I don't mind linking my real bank account to a legit service, but that's just what I'm looking for I guess. Or if you have any experiences to share that might help I'd really appreciate it, and it might help someone else later too. Thanks again as I've already learned a decent lil bit just poking around here, especially thanks to W13SN and Patel as their threads have actually intrigued me quite a bit.

Lol, your avatar just made me laugh, so thank you for that. I was actually curious if there was a way to just send someone Paypal and they send you the information or wallet number, then I would just transfer them to another "wallet" so that he wouldn't have the information I'm assuming? Only problem with that is I would still need an account somewhere to be able to do that I would think. Sorry I've always been better at learning as I go, so I was hoping to maybe make some smaller buys at first somewhere to get used to how it works, and then make a bigger purchase when the time looks right. So basically I'm lookin for an exchanger that isn't sketchy like I've been reading about Coinbase, but also doesn't take 3 weeks or longer to verify me.

There's one called localbitcoins that advocates not dealing with online crypo like coinbase. Check it out.

Today is all about DOGE, BTC is so 2013. I see people are going crazy over dogecoin.

I have 350k doge right now

I'm not really interested in any altcoins at the moment. They don't have any staying power like BTC does. Also as it's been stated a couple of times already, they don't offer anything that bitcoin either doesn't already offer, or could. I might just play around mining with some dead pcs for fun for now, or at least until I can get verified and purchase some. I wish it was easier to buy them, Robocoin Where Are You????????????? Lol

If I were you, just invest a little bit into DogeCoin. BitCoin is being declined by china...so I don't see it having any potential of rising a lot more..it'll probably just remain as it is so it's probably best to seek out another market.

You'll be a very upset shibe if you dont buy Doge

Eh, the China thing did make me think twice, but Overstock is going to be accepting them this year. If things run smooth there I could see quite a few other stores following their lead. Also, I've read that Wallstreet is going to be jumping in the mix over this next year as well, and if that goes well, there'll be more than enough of a market for them. I think the USA could end up filling the void left by China and maybe even them some because it's not like they were so huge in China already or anything.

I like MtGox, verification went fine and I even got free YubiKey for account security.

what is cryptocurrency ?

Thank you very much, that's what I was really wondering. I have an account there and I was going to verify it, but I had saw a post from someone on here sayign they had been waiting like 3 weeks with no word yet. I was worried that because of the time of year and the rising popularity that maybe that would become a trend with them now so it's nice to hear someone say things went smooth for them.
