howdy, where are good places to give your referral and get people to sign up and buy something? i heard people do it on ebay, is that allowed?

You can do that on niche forums. Use a landing page and promote on Yahoo! answers. But don't spam, try to make it legitimate.

He means go to Yahoo Answers and answer questions and put the referral link in the resource box so that you can drive traffic and pray for conversion.

Landing page means not to directly promote something but presell and then promote.
