Dogs need us because we made them through their history so depended on us humans. We should take care of them. All the rest they should live peacefully in their environment.

In many cases this can be true, in other cases not so much.
Example: People living in apartments or inner-cities that own working dogs like Husky's or Alaskan Malimute's and don't take them for daily 10 mile runs, at least, is cruel (running at dog speed, not human speed and preferably pulling something).
Those particular breeds were bred for a purpose and it wasn't cuddling in your 30 degree celsius apartment.
Alternatively, there are many people with dogs that work them for what they were bred for:
My response is bias though... I own a dog, and trained her to climb trees, amongst other things.
