I’m currently looking for a reliable payment method to sell low-ticket digital services to the Indian market.

I’ve had issues with PayPal in the past (account limitations and holds), so I’m trying to find alternatives that are more stable for this kind of business model.

From what I understand, many users in India prefer UPI for payments. However, I’m not based in India, so I’m not sure if there’s any way to receive UPI payments as a foreign seller.

At the same time, I personally prefer crypto because it’s easier for me to manage and convert in my country, but it seems like crypto adoption among Indian buyers isn’t very strong.

A few questions:

  1. Is there any way for non-Indian sellers to accept UPI payments?
  2. What payment methods are currently working best for selling low-ticket digital services in India?
  3. Is crypto a viable option at all for this market, or is adoption still too low?
  4. Any recommendations for stable payment gateways that don’t get flagged as easily as PayPal?
Would appreciate insights from anyone with experience in the Indian market.

UPI is tough without an Indian entity, most gateways (Razorpay, Cashfree) require local biz/KYC , workaround is partnering with someone in India
For low-ticket, what’s working: UPI + Paytm + cards via a local processor, PayPal still works but expect holds
Crypto is niche there, don’t rely on it . use it as optional, not primary, India buyers still prefer simple local payments

1. Non indian sellers can still accept UPI Payments through merchant of records such as (Innoutpayments, dodopayments)
2. Payment methods that work best is simply the payment method that is popular in india.
3. No crypto is not good at all for the indian market, last time I checked crypto was actually banned in india.
4. You could try stripe, they have a beta version of UPI, or perhaps square. All payment processor(s) require you to maintain a good relation this can't be avoided, ensure your getting low chargebacks and have strong customer relation(s).

I think crypto not good in India, too many liers, you can try stripe or Square.

All agency require: keep chargebacks low and maintain strong customer relationships to avoid restrictions. Hard to maintain it
