Seriously, the online movie niche has way too much competition - while it's possible to make money doing it (if you promote your site right), you're likely not to cash in any serious amounts. As for ebooks, obviously it all depends on the specific book and its target demographic (i.e. 45 year-old housewives are far more likely to complete your survey than 25 year-old IT people) but once again - the net is overloaded with ebooks and reports and it's very hard to succeed bigtime unless you discover something extraordinary - in which case it's debatable whether making the information free and monetizing through a content gateway is exactly the most profitable way to go about it.
But back to my main point of being creative: I currently have 3 sites up that I put minimal effort into (around 2 hours each week checking stats and optimizing), each make me a decent income through content gateways (I use better options than CPAL***), and none of the three are in any ways connected to movies, ebooks or downloads.
There's so much content out there that can be easily monetized via gateways - just surf around the net for an hour or two and with each and every site you stumble upon think if and how you could use a content GW on this site. By doing this you'll have your own unique ideas pretty soon
