    Hi all.

What do you think - what new language is the next big think?
What's cooking at the moment that has potential to develop into something awesome?

Well, we don't need to limit ourself to languages only. Frameworks count to.

I agree about NodeJS, it's gaining a lot of traction.

I don't know about the next big thing but the concepts/fundamentals (basic syntax, OOP concepts etc) of all programming languages will remain the same for a long time.

Best of luck if you find something like that.

node.js is definitely getting traction but fundamental concepts will remain the same.

I suppose the language does not really matter. Whatever language you use, it shares the same concept as dozens of other languages. Once in a while a new framework comes along that's the new flavour of the month but that's it.

Has anybody any feelings towards GO etc, have never used it, just curious about brighter minds than mines opinion.

P.s. I like the direction JavaScript is taking.

For better or worse... Javascript. Nodejs, and languages that compile down to javascript like Elm and Clojurescript. For systems languages keep an eye on Go and Rust. For big data, clojure is the one to watch.
