I'm making a game application for Android and I was wondering what I should do when it's finished.
By that, I mean, how should I make money off of it?

    For example, should I:
Make a free version with ads and a paid version without ads?
Make a demo version and a paid full version?
Make a free version with paid upgrades?

    Those are just examples.
What do you think I should do?

I think that demo is the best way for you. Ads in android games and apps are not a problem :). Many of android users know how to get it out ;) via host file f.e.

Depends on how fun and intriguing the game will be. 99% of your competition mainly tries only fun, so maybe if you can somehow combine both then ... sales will come.

Demo and paid version looks like good option. The main problem is how to make the app popular.

I've noticed some of the top apps make a free version with ads and a paid version without them.
I think ads would make more money, but either way I would be getting paid.
And, of course, people will go for the free one. So I might do that.

None of the above. Free app with in app purchases is the way to go. If you look at the most successful apps on the market, that's exactly what they're doing. Don't try to guess your way to success; just look at what the most successful are doing and copy it.

You mean like (for example) "bombs" in Draw Something, right? And would you put ads on it?
I think both ideas are good but I'm not sure which is better. I see both methods on the app market.

Make a free app with ads. And a paid app with no ads and few extra benefits!

The problem with Android is the payment system where people get their money refunded
ITs really baffling how Apple make son much cash with apps and games and Android makes not much at all

Put an ad on the top of ur game screen and refresh them in 5-10 seconds. It will frustrate most of the users and they will want to buy the game. I have seen this working with Angry Birds which became crazily viral. Of course, you need a great game for that anyway...

if an ad frustrates the gamer, he will not buy the full version, he will delete the game... people buy full versions when they like teh game and are willing to invest time and money into it. Don't make the ads intrusive, ever.

Seriously, it depends on the quality and the virality. If your friend has bought the coolest game and you try the free one with ads, there are more chances that you would go for the premium one sooner or later. It happened with me when I first played Angry birds. Just got addicted and bought the premium one..

Make a Free version and monetize it with ads and also make its paid version with some special features.

I think I'm going to make a free app and a paid app.
The free app will have ads. The paid app will be ad-free with some other benefits/features.
And I will also add in-app purchases. I think combining those two methods seems like a good idea.
Thank you for all the answers. What do you guys think?
