Best Local Citation Directories List

This is my personal list of citation directories.

After penguin, we're all jumping at even the smallest spider on the wall, like it's a horror movie and anything could kill us as we walk through the pitch black basement with our flashlights. I am no exception. I don't trust bad looking link directories. We all know reciprocal directories are bad if not negative (must be one way links) and the paid link ones are, well, pay.

So I'm offering up my personal list. I had to sift through a lot of crappy ones for these, but now you can benefit from my hours and hours put in. They are all good; no traps or "now just pay us" after you've completed filling them out. Nice and clean. I don't really feel the need to complete any more than these, but if you see a good directory I've missed, please leave a post for all of us to see.

These are great for getting a solid Google places ranking...There are 3 really big aggregators of information, I see you have expressupdateusa (info usa) on the list, but anyone doing this for a business should make sure to also make listings at both mybusinesslistingmanager (Axciom), and localeze, as many companies purchase data from these companies. Good list as there is a couple of citations on there that I have yet to hit up.

whitespark.ca have a tool you can use to pull citations from any niche. I wonder how important that stuff is now though considering G+ integration with local pages. Maybe it's better to get +1s from real people now?

I stopped doing maps stuff because the results were much more unpredictable than normal SEO, and changed too often for my liking. As I said, it's now a G+ things, yet another change...!

Thanks for the list, I'm having some probs with a couple maps listing they just don't seem to budge so maybe there is something that'll help here. Once you build your citations do you need to backlink that crap or what? Ive been putting references to #, address, bis name all over the place and doesn't seem to do jack.. The places listings Ive ranked before seemed like a side effect from all the other work
