I recently read about a really great keyword research tool on BHW, but I lost the link. Would someone be willing to share with me some of the more popular keyword research tools?

I am looking for something that would allow me to submit a list of keywords / phrases, then give back similar keywords / phrases, as well as an indication of how often each is searched for.

I use Micro Niche Finder, I love it. Great support constant updates, search clickbank and amazon and other platforms for your keyword right from the program.

For starting up you can try your hands on traffic travis but nothing as of yet have beaten Market samurai. Micro niche finder is good though market samurai is far more intellegent when it comes to rank tracking or keyword research. In case you want you can give both of them a try as both of them have free versions available, do mind that traffic travis owners will get the shit out of your email by sending emails everyday. For starting up with market samurai you can try domain samurai as it provides you with most of the features in market samurai's keyword research module.

I use Traffic Travis but have to admit that I spend a long time to manually inspect potential keywords.

Ya I had TT before also and I don't think it is that good. It doesnt come up with very many other potential keywords and the algorithm it uses to decide how tough a search is really isn't that good. In my opinion anyway.. Im looking for something rich in features but simple to use with good algorithms behind it.

I use my own Google Keyword Tool scraper to harvest keywords that fits my preferred statistics for "exact local monthly searches" and "CPC". (Magic Niche Finder used to this for me, but it sucks now.)

Then I inspect the top 10 competition of each keyword manually with the help of SEOQuake.

My preference is to kick back with Traffic Travis running, the Google Keyword Tool in one window, and my favorite domain registrar in the other. Sounds like a good night to me.
