Best "keyword research" guide...

Everyone seems to have their own way of doing keyword research and was curious what is the best guide that explains this. I understand the concept of doing the research and finding keywords that have a global monthly search volume of 1K to 10K and a CPC of a $1 but I am confused on other factors such as finding how many pages you should be aiming for when you search for it in quotes and without quotes on Google and so forth...any help or suggestions?

I have two autoblogs currently running that I did not even do keyword research on and I am making over $20 a day from Adsense on both of them. I want to actually do some keyword research on them to try to get that $20 a day to something higher but no clue how to start.

One of them is related to a drug and is earning 1,800 unique visitors a day and another one is related to Electronics and is recieving 800 unique visitors a day.

Keyword research would vary depending upon the website goal. Although there are some good ones for standard keyword research, I doubt if you would find a guide exclusively for Autoblogs.

So no other suggestions?

Any help on how to rank for those keywords well?

Try Big G AdWords thats what I use when having to do some keyword research myself. Your going to have to figure out how to rank for those keywords by doing more research on your competition.

look up SEO Searchterms 2.. i think it will help u lots. good luck man getting that far without keyword research is impessive from my pov.

I think it is very hard to come up with any formula that works on everything for keyword research. I'm not really interested in how many results are returned in the SERPS... that can be VERY misleading. If you have common words in your keyword, there will naturally be a very high number of searches returned... this does not mean that they are actual competition for you.

I'm more interested in what the top 10 or 20 sites look like. If you're decent at SEO you're going to pass 95% of the sites like they are standing still anyway.

Many "guides" will say that anything under 50K with quotes is good... however I find that to be a VERY loose guide. Again, its the top 10 sites that determine real competition... I also find it helpful to use the allintitle:Your Keyword, operator to help determine who else may be actively targeting my keyword.
