Hi Guys,

Ive moved away from google keywords tool for looking at competitiveness. I was using the the MOZ keyword difficulty tool, but its only reporting from bing, not Google.

With some research ive found the following tools

http://www.searchbliss.com/seo-tools/keyword-ranking-difficulty-check.asp
http://www.webseoanalytics.com/free/seo-tools/keyword-difficulty.php

But even these are giving different results.

Is there a "best" keyword difficulty tool?

You don't need a tool for that, simple KW research is enough.

Use intitle:"keyword" inurl:"keyword" and you will see how many direct competitors have their basic on page SEO done properly. If this number is huge you have yourself a huge competition. Especially if your KW don't have enough Exact KW searches per month.

I use market samurai to see overall view of all seo factors like Domain age, pr etc...
and use Traffic Travis to get basic idea about competition level in required google country based engine.

I am not affiliated with of these tools but use them lots :)

you can simply use google keyword tool if you just want some simple information, but if you want to go deep, market samurai is a very good chioce for you, they supply you a lot of useful, related information to that keyword, including your competitors information, and they also have free version, you can try that if you like

I think long tail pro is something that you should be looking for. The platinum version has a tab to calculate the keyword competition of each keyword and as a rule of thumb kc below 35 means easy to rank

Where does Longtail pro pull its data from?

But still if you are looking for a paid tool then SEOcockpit is the best.

Hi lolseo,

looking at the competition on google keyword tool was wrong in the first place... they only show you the ADWORDS competition(how many advertisers bidding for the paid spots..), not the SEO competition.

for seo competition, check out http://keyworddatabase.net

I am using keywordrevealer from long time, It give you estimation about keyword comp. Try it.

What is the URL for Hyperlink? I tried hyperlink.com but it said the web page was not available.

Many of the tools listed here all pull from Google's Keyword Planner, so I wouldn't expect substantially different results. Not to mention they may all have slightly different formulas which you may or may not agree with. Market Samurai for example calculates Google data with Bing data, which isn't ideal imo.

Use Longtail pro and traffic travis to get an idea. I dont think you can go by a single tool as they have all got their own ways of calculating their results.

Hyperlink is not a tool. Learn more about SEO.

Manual research would be the best way for you to proceed with keyword selection. Tools would depend upon backlinks which are often hidden by some website owners and may not all be picked up by tools.
