At first you need to decide one thing: Do you want to post when there are a lot of posts, a lot of people are online, so you need to compete with a lot of posts or do you want to post when less people are online, there are less posts, so you need to compete with less posts?

Nonetheless... despite what people have said, the time absolutely does matter, but that obviously depends on what subreddit you're targetting.
Take the average user of your subreddit. If there isn't one then assume American. Post when they're waking up. This is the time when the fewest people are posting and the most people are upvoting (around 7am)
Posting right now for example, is a lost cause. You COULD get a successful post, but it's much less likely.

If you're going exclusively for traffic, then you'll want right wing politics, weird news (don't try to replace the MSM. people won't trust you with that. it's the wacky shit they won't mind from a random site), crypto news... that's pretty much it.

There is no particular time to post on reddit. But you can post when you see many users are on online, you can post at that time. Because posting at that time may lead your post to get many views.

Evening time is the best time for posting in Reddit. At time only many users will come online. So, that is the best time.
