Dreamhost is definitely the best of all the hosts I've tried (godaddy, hostgator, hostable, netfirms and doteasy). It's got more features than any other hosts (stuff like ruby on rails, perl etc.). They even offer free 50gb backups. When you sign up, you get a free 2 week trial.

If you use someone's affiliate coupon, you can even get a $50-100 discount

Hostgator is decent but not as good as dreamhost.

Never use godaddy's hosting. It will make you want to kill yourself.

HostGator has been loyal to me for the past 7 years or so.
Best server speed that I have ever used.

    I've used -
    HostGator
    GoDaddy
    1&1
and a few others that where offshore.
