OP this is a common doubt for beginners and as others commented, I believe that it helps if you have a clear vision of where you want your project to go. With that in mind you can more easily compare different options and change whenever is needed. I believe we can approach this like changing cars, it depends on a lot of things, but at the end always end up adding your own personal opinion too.
