As I'm the wrong side of 35 my gaming experience ended with the PS1.

But now I've got a soon to be 5 year old and with christmas fast approaching, I've decided to donate my loungroom tom the sounds of gunfire and explosions.

Can any of the newest consoles use copied games? Do they need a chip installed like the old PS1?

I figured there's a good amount of you who spend too much time playing games and that by the nature of this being a BH forum that you will all be up on this type of info.

I only know about Wii mods. They do take a chip, and some serious soldering skills if you plan on using a chip.

If you screw up, there goes your system.

Go for PS3 or Xbox360. Im pretty certain its possible to mod them to play copied games. But you should go to a professional.

Search on google for a local ps3 mod shop or something along those lines.

I didn't think that people would offer those services since they're illegal.

lol at people recommending gaming rigs.since your son is a 5 year old a wii or xbox 360 is good since both can be easily modded to play pirated games.go to a shop and ask around

For a 5 year old, grab him a Wii...he'll love it and you'll enjoy it too. I would definitely stay away from the other consoles as they will be coming out with new models next Christmas, so you'll be getting in on the end of the game development cycle.

I'd get him a wii, check on craigzlist or ebayy, for a modded one, so you don't have to waste your time gambliing on modding the console you just bought

Personally I have a PS3 but it also depends on what kind of games your son likes. Since he is only 5 years old, you might like to get him Wii because the games are more interactive so you could spend more time with him too. The more so older crowd would prefer Xbox 360 or a PS3 because of the content of games that they offer. Just see what your son likes, take him to a Best Buy or something and try out the demo's so you could see which one he enjoys!

Well, you can purchase a ps3, new or used, and install E3 Flasher onto It. This will allow your ps3 to play backup games withing soldering it, which means opening up your ps3, and going through all of the hassles. You will be able to play games directly from the ps3's HD, or external drive. You won't be able to play downloaded games online, but E3 flasher allows you to switch firmwares, so you'll still be able to game online with REAL PHYSICAL DISC that you own.

To be honest with you, I haven't touched my playstation 3 or Xbox 360 since OnLive gaming service came out. It is cloud gaming, works with 3mpbs or higher. New games are released to the service every Tuesday. They have the best deals in GAMING HISTORY. Last month they offered any game on the service for $1.00, YES $1.00, and that included HomeFront, Deus Ex, etc. A Deal you just could NOT beat. Also, all of the games start instantly, no downloads, no waiting, JUST PLAY. You can watch people play games you don't have just to see how it is before you purchase it, you can demo any game on the service free instantly for 30 min, you can also rent or buy games. No standing in long lines at Midnight, you can just turn on your gaming console, select the game, and play. It's similar to Netflix, but you're streaming games instead of Movies. You can purchase the console on their website for $100, or on ebay for $50 or less, a deal you just can't pass up. Christmas is right around the corner, so I can see more crazy deals coming from them soon.

PM Me for more details, I have all of the information on mods, hacks, OnLive, etc
