The best free web hosts are "hosts" like blogger and tumblr where you have to use their CMS but you can use your own domain. They handle high volume traffic better than hostgator's shared hosting. If you want to host a wordpres site where you plan to have traffic, you need to pay for hosting.

When one of the highest prices for basic web hosting is only $5 looking for free really does not make sense. You can find $1 and $2 per month services too.
