Best Free FTP Software?

Filezilla - total no-brainer. Sometimes my uploads fail and are forced to retry multiple times. But I'm sure that's my frickin non-high-speed internet connection. My last-mile connection is 802.11b wireless.

FileZilla :D

I like it because it also supports SFTP something I am seeing a lot more of.

FTP voyager is the best and i am using it from one yr , they update frequently and they are the best i think....:)

im a fan of WinSCP, its free, allows SFTP connections and the interface is what you would expect.

am i the only one using it?

What's your favorite FTP software? I've been using SmartFTP for a long while and am happy with it but they have decided to eliminate the free version. I only have 2 weeks left to go.

I google searched this and found there were SO MANY ftp programs out there that I didn't know which one to choose. So, I have come to you guys for your opinions.
FILEZILLA... period!!! end of discussion... ez to use - click & drag... sweet to use... fast transfer based on ur isp speed

Guys,
If I had to recommend an FTP software, I'd definitely recommend Filezilla. Love that software, its free and its very good.

However, I'm in search for another software.

Do you guys know any similar software like SourceSafe?

I need an FTP software, that allows me to see if someone is editing a file somewhere else. I need this option, ‘cause I work in a team. A team of freelancers.

well, here's my story... I've got an ANCIENT copy of ws-ftp, never upgraded, never wanted to, but today I had to and found this thread. There is a thunder storm/tornadoe watch in my area and we lost power. I've got a battery BU, but it auto shuts down the system. So I was out and about, then came home to find my PC... off and the GIANT upload of Dragon Natually speaking (different thread) canceled. Well my ancient copy does not have resume, overwright or nothing... Since this takes hours to upload, I searched for resume, found a new copy of WS-ftp (for a price) but didn't want to pay it...

Then remembered I'd installed File Zilla sometime ago, fired it up... connected, chose resume (I fully expected it to balk since it hadn't started the transfer), but it started right up. Have about 20 minutes left on the upload.

So for me... File Zilla rules!

good thread :)

I have been using filezilla but since it has security issuses i would like to change to something thats is equal, fast and easy to use

i can't say nothing about filezilla, but bpftp has been doing the job for me for the past 10 years or so, lol
