But if you really have to pay, then just get FileZilla it's just as good if not better than WSFTP Pro and is constantly updated.
 
Filezilla works good for me, but I'm gonna give Cute FTP a tryout now.
 
Thanks for all the responses- I ended up trying Filezilla and for some reason my uploads weren't working correctly. I downloaded CuteFTP trial version and so far, it has done well. One site that I was having problems upgrading using SmartFTP finally worked using CuteFTP.

I tried filezilla for my mac and didn't really like it all that much. I ended up trying the free version of Transmit, and it's worked much better.
 
My vote is also Filezilla. But why don't you just download several of the top free ones and give them a try. You will find one with a feature that you think is great. Then go with that one.
 
c*oreftp is simple and good however it hangs a lot of time
 
I used to use CuteFTP but now I'm using FileZilla. And FileZilla is quite good.
 
Though it hardly needs another vote, I use FileZilla, and am happy with its functionality and ease of use.
