Hello all,

I have a bunch of academic papers that I have to read and need a service that could help me get it done in shorter time and with less energy invested.
So I need an AI assistant service that reads and answers questions based on pdf files.

Regards,

Too expensive to offer for free, any free solutions you find will be offering a mediocre result.

Books are just too big, these models all have token limits and it takes a lot of processing power to run requests with a lot of tokens.

You can input them chapter by chapter into Chatgpt to summarize for you.

I dont know if there are some tools like that, but even that there is, it isnt free so, try something else.

You can try claude, anthropics competitor to chatgpt. Its supposed to do better with larger contexts. Otherwise there are numerous projects on github that specialize in helping read academic papers and you could hook it up to huggingfaces api which (i believe) offers free calls. If you dont want to mess with code just experiment with chatgpt, claude, and there's probably others that offer freebies

Hi, there,
I did it with ChatGTP (GPT-4) but I made a fairly detailed request.
For example: I'm going to provide you with a PDF. You're going to read it, analyse it and, based on the information in this PDF and only this PDF, you're going to answer the following questions: who is this text intended for? What problem does it set out to solve? What difficulties are encountered? Write in a neutral, professional style.
If you understand my request, ask me for the PDF.

Claude does a good job of this.

Perplexity can be okay as well.

But ChatGPT is useless when it comes to summarizing and accurately answering questions based on PDF inputs.
