Best effort : reward ratio in IM

A question from the lazy man inside me (or maybe the smart and efficient man):



Let's say I was offering you Job A or Job B. These jobs are EXACTLY the same except for hours/day.



Job A: Work 4 hours per day and make $1,000/day

Job B: Work 8 hours per day and make $1,000/day



Most people would pick Job A because it requires half the time input and produces the same $ output.



Now let's give Job A and Job B job descriptions:



Job A: You are the test dummy for a bunch of painful experiments. Fire ants are poured into your ear canal through straws, poison ivy is rubbed on the glans of your penis, etc.

Job B: You have the option of performing your favorite hobby/activity, sleeping for 8 hours, ordering whatever you like from a world-class chef (for free), unlimited drinks from the best bartender in the world, and you have two dozen naked women around at all times.



Now, most people would pick Job B even if the shift is doubly-long (unless they're mentally disturbed, or they have such bad self-control that they would rather have red-hot fire pokers shoved in their ass than have unlimited drinks).



It's evident that not all jobs are the same. The story behind one mans first $10,000 is different than another mans. 8 hours might be preferable to 4 hours depending on the circumstances.



I hate customer service / directly interfacing with clients/end users. I would much rather be a behind-the-scenes-man and call shots on marketing psychology, general business strategy/leadership, etc. I would love to talk to employees/coworkers but I can't stand client relations sometimes.



I see some people here with some "set and forget" gigs that look like they can be 100% hermit and never leave their bedroom and make $$$$.



Now, I'm not trying to be a lazy fuck, nor am I trying to be anti-social. But I don't want to go down a road where I'm exerting every ounce of my energy for minimal results when I could be making 4x the cash with 1/4 the effort.



So I'm sitting here thinking - what's the best effort : reward ratio in IM?



Making a shit ton of micro-profits off porn CPA (people will always wank it).

Is it getting huge, elephant sized 5 digit SEO contracts with huge companies?

Is it making a dog toy that squirts on your dog and begs for its life in Spanish, then engineering a viral video to the front page of Reddit, then manipulating the comments section to lead people to your site?



I don't expect a golden-bullet answer, but just enough info to get some ideas rolling. What did you hate doing? Why did you switch to your current methods? What are you absolutely fucking tired of?

That’s why you have to discus on what you enjoy doing. And if you can find high paying work that you enjoy, you’ve hit the jackpot.

It's not an either-or situation, if you want to work on client sites you need your own throwaway sites to learn what works.

I personally have a lot of small throwaway sites that I use solely for testing new methods, and I never push anything to a client's site until I already know through testing that it's completely safe and effective.

It may be easier to work solely with clients with no personal projects, but you'll end up causing serious issues once the algorithm changes and a previously "safe" method ends up getting your client's domain penalized or deindexed.

Plus id like to add this too. Passion is overrated as fuck. Don`t always try to find your passion and waste best part of your life.

You see big successful brands in various areas. Even for toilet equipments. You think they always dreamed about selling toilet equipment? Nah..

Sticking with hard times in any project will always pay off.
