For many years now we have been sending our newsletter and various offers via the smtp on one of our hosting accounts using Worldcast.

We really need a way to test the deliverability of the emails we're sending so we can start quantifying what we do and get serious about it.

Is there something I can get where I place a tracking code in our emails and get back some data about if it was delivered or rejected, if it was opened etc?

many thanks :-)

Easy stuff man.Required some time & few dollars though.

1st check if your servers are properly configured. Use http://www.mail-tester.com/ and it's free. Note: A 10/10 score , doesn't mean Inbox.

2nd , Creat some seed accounts. Say 10 for each top ISP, google, yahoo ,aol , hotmail etc. Add these emails to your mailing list and check where your message lands

As for opening track. Almost all Maling software's have this as default option. However,is not 100% accurate. In order to track email opens, you use a 1x1 image pixel. If your subscriber has turn off images, you will not know if he really opened your email.

Hope it helps.

Why not just use an autoresponder? I believe most have this feature.

I have not been able to justify the cost to the other people in the company. I suspect that our current emailing method is probably not getting a high delivery rate and if I can prove that I can make a case for moving to a more professional email setup.
